Bruce Duryee has been asked to be a part of the International Task Force at Expo 2000 in Hanover Germany.  The Federal Republic of Germany is holding the Expo 2000 World  Exposition in Hanover between June 1st and October 31st 2000. 171 nations and international organizations from all over the world have confirmed their  participation in the event. In all, about 40 million guests are expected in  the Lower Saxony's capital city. This Expo is an opportunity to bring about improvements in the  international collaboration of police forces, especially in major international events. The task force is made up of 200 police officers from the member states of the European Union, U.S.A., the Russian Federation, Japan, Poland and the Czech Republic. The principal aim is to strengthen the partnership relationship of all the countries. The project will give an excellent opportunity to convey knowledge of the various legal systems so as to achieve better understanding of national methods. The appearance of foreign officers will openly display  to visitors the international will of police officers to collaborate. Foreign officers and German officers work together in various fields of  police work over six periods of about four weeks each. I will be going form  May 22, 2000 to June 17, 2000. If  any of the class members are planning to attend the expo contact me at my email address. bruceduryee@hotmail.com

Dateline December 12th - England: Andy and Rachel Clarke (the newlyweds)  went to Andy's sisters farm two weeks ago, on the England/Scotland border. The weather was bad and on what was due to be their last day there a tree collapsed on the Landrover  they were using. Andy was in the vehicle and the cab was crushed onto him.. Rachel was outside the vehicle and the tree knocked her over. Both were taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries and there were also fears that Rachel had a fractured skull. Examinations have shown no spinal injuries. Andy was left with a stiff neck and shoulders, Rachel is still in pain with her back and has nine staples in her head at present. She will be off work for some time recovering at home.

As December 7th Andy Tooke and Debbie King survived the WTO and Battle in Seattle. Life is slowly returning to normal. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

New York National Academy Associates had their Christmas party on the 2nd of December. About ten 198ers showed up, it was surprising - Stellace, Tim O'Neill, Gene Ceccarelli, Hugh's Vanilla Princess, Sande, Bob Kenny, NYPD guys, etc. In keeping with tradition they went out afterwards and drank cheap beer from Hugh's mobile cooling system.

On November 29, 1999 Lieutenant Ric Ideker landed at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. Apparently the city of Delhi, Oh had sent Lt.. Ideker to get trained on a "nuclear, digital, thermal, bad guy, hand held, scanning unit". I can't tell you exactly what it is because of national security. Ric had the first day off and he was met at the airport by Captain John "Lizard" Kissinger. Captain Kissinger took Ric south and he was entertained in Mexico. Both had a great time and Captain Kissinger was able to get Ric back to Phoenix in time for his training.
