In August 1994, I began working as a System Administrator on the Titan project at Martin Marietta Astronautics, now Lockheed Martin Astronautics. An interesting project: I designed and implemented, from scratch, a network-based client/server alphanumeric paging system.
Beginning in January 1997, I joined Tele-Communications, Inc. as a System Administrator on SUMMITrak, an in-house billing software development project.
In September 1997, SUMMITrak was bought by CSG Systems, Inc.. An interesting project: I built a browser-based program for adding users to the system files.
In November 1999, I went to work at Level 3 Communications as a Senior System Administrator/System Engineer.
In January 2002, I started at IBM as a System Architect. I share responsibility for a number of large servers (such as ftp.software.ibm.com) that, all together, recently broke over 100TiB/month in traffic.
In addition, I have provided consulting services in UNIX SysAdmin and programming for various small companies. My expertise is in Solaris and Linux system administration and general UNIX programming, and I have experience administering other UNIX variants as well. I welcome opportunities to help out with any UNIX solutions you may need.
I have written two articles for SysAdmin magazine, in August 1996 and December 1996. I hope to get around to publishing more someday.
